Let’s try something different

If you’ve read most of my other posts you may be able to tell that I am a bit of a foodie.

I hope not to be an obnoxious one, but I truly do love and appreciate all types of food. I also believe that food shapes and influences every culture in the world. You cannot fully experience a location without trying its local cuisine. Every place has some sort of plate or recipe that is special and tells a story. Whether its a common dish or something a little more unique for special occasions it all has a unique part in shaping a culture.

Food has the ability to unite people in an incredible way. Therefore, I have decided to add some recipes to the blog.

I do not have a specific type of cuisine that is my absolute favorite. I genuinely love and appreciate a little bit of everything. Lately I have found myself making homemade ramen from scratch to butter chicken to a Spanish inspired pizza. I do get quite a bit of inspiration from other blogs and cookbooks but I tend to add my own little twist whether its due to the ingredients that I have or just because I like to do things my own way. I tend to post pictures on Instagram (of course) but I feel like I want to do a little more than that.

So I guess we’ll just have to wait and see what happens. This is something that I am truly passionate about and of course, it’s always fun to do something new.

If y’all have any ideas or suggestions on different foods that are either your favorite or something that you’ve always wanted to try, please leave me a comment and let me know. I am always looking for new things to try.

XO,

Bec

#WanderlustWednesday: Granada, Spain

My heart is currently set on Europe. I am desperate to go to Spain (amongst several other countries).

Since I was being lazy on New Years Day I decided to catch up on some shows. Both Booze Traveler on the Travel Channel and Anthony Bourdain’s Parts Unknown on CNN had episodes in Spain with the mention of Granada in each one.

Granada is the capital of the province of Granada which lies in the region of Andalusia in Spain. It is at the base of the Sierra Nevada mountains and is about an hour away from the Mediterranean coast. The city is the 13th largest urban area in Spain.

The most famous structure in Granada is the Alhambra which is a Moorish citadel and palace. It is the most renowned building of Andalusian Islamic history. There is a heavy Moorish influence in the architecture of the city.

Granada is a city full of History and Culture. From some of the earliest Celtic immigrants to gypsies to the Roman invasion, all have crossed paths in Granda.

Of course, tapas are a way of life in Granada. When hanging out with friends at night, going from bar to bar ordering drinks and sampling some incredible food.

Through it all, my heart longs to wander amongst Spain.

I know I’ve been a little quiet on the blog this month and for that I apologize.

Not to go into any great detail, bottom line is, it’s been a rough month. Several unexpected things have popped up that have pretty much sucked. Yet, such is life.

There’s always valleys and mountaintops to conquer. It’s through those ominous valleys in which we get stretched and grow as a person. And, somehow, at the end of the day I fully believe there’s a purpose and a reason for it all. I may not understand but i trust that everything’s going to work out and be ok.

For the last couple of weeks the quote at the top has come to mind. Sometimes you just need a reminder to have a bit of courage. The circumstances won’t last forever and if you don’t give up you’ll be stronger for it in the end.

XOXO,

Bec
